U7s Bobcats Match Report – 4th November 2023

A tough game today for the Bobcats against a very well organised opposition, with strength in all areas of the pitch. The boys did themselves proud, battled until the end and probably could have done with another 10 minutes on the clock in the end, with a strong finish.

Reggie showed great leadership today, setting the example with his work rate, attitude and all round play. He bagged himself a well deserved hat-trick, off the back of powerful runs and persistence in the box. Always a fantastic player to watch – both at the back and going forward – we could not ask for more. Awesome job Reg

Samuels commitment to his teammates was really impressive today, showing great defensive discipline throughout. We also saw some really nice bursts through a compact opposition today, using his ever present rocket boosters and ever increasing confidence / ability to dribble the ball at speed. A goal is coming! (Especially with those new boots!). Awesome job Samuel

Cohan was another who stood out today – mazing through the opposition like a young Gareth Bale (sorry I’m a Spurs fan) and finding the net with an equally impressive strike from range. Cohan showed great resilience after a couple of knocks, composing himself and working hard to get the ball back for his team. Awesome job Cohan

Bradley was full of energy today, getting stuck in on a number of occasions to retrieve possession in a game that we saw less of the ball than we are used to. He scored a great goal, battling through a wall of players before hitting the post and converting the rebound. Struggling to stay on his feet at times, he showed great determination to get to his feet and continue pressuring the opposition. Awesome job Bradley

Teddy was on a mission to get the ball back today, quickly finding good positions and engaging with opposition players. The improvements in focus are there to see every week and it’s a pleasure to see him playing with a smile on his face (the most important thing at this club). Awesome job Teddy

Seb made sure he got out to opponents quickly today, cutting the angles and making it difficult to convert the numerous chances they created. He faced an onslaught in goal and did his best to keep us in the game and stayed positive throughout. On the pitch Seb bravely defended a powerful free kick, preventing a certain goal. Awesome job Seb

Harry had a great spell on the pitch today, confident on the ball, high work rate, great positioning and as usual bundle of positive energy . He helped his team in goal, in the last period of the game (not his favourite position), again emphasising his unselfish / team centred approach. Awesome job Harry

Obie is quickly becoming a very important player for this team. He takes his role seriously, takes on and put into play the information we give him and his skills are improving every week. He disrupted the opposition in both defensive and midfield positions today, played some lovely passes to get us going forward and is another full of positive energy . Awesome job Obie

Jenson started in goal today (to give Seb some respite) and started in positive fashion on the pitch, working hard, creating chances and chasing the goal (that he must score). Unfortunately the strength of opposition, meant that J lost control of his emotions towards the end (thankfully his teammates dug in and covered for him ). Jenson is sorry.

We have only lost two games this season – a testament to the quality of play, togetherness and determination of the boys. There will be more disappointment to come I’m sure, but I’m also sure we will significantly outweigh this with the happiness, success and memories that these boys undoubtedly going to create together.
