U8s Cougars Match Report – 18 December 2023

Last game of the year saw the cougars put in solid performance against good opposition. Down to 5 players, the boys worked hard throughout – no time for a rest on the bench!

Barney, Ryan, Louie and Ben all took a turn in goal. Ryan impressed with good positioning, coming out of his box to clear on at least one occasion. Best save goes to Ben for a two-handed diving save.

Ryan, Louie and Brody were all solid in defence, all playing out well from goal kicks. Mention to Brody for a great tackle as the last action to ensure the scoreline remained the same.

Brody, Ben, Louie and Barney all took a turn in midfield and battled hard. Mention to Barney for tireless work and good link up play. Louie was also a constant threat when out wide.

In terms of goal action, Ben came to the fore with two goals, one off the post and in via a defender and a second well taken goal. Credit to Brody, supplying both the cross and an excellent assist to slip in Ben for the second. Ryan also assisted two – one to Brody to cut inside and finish and one out from defence to play Barney in.

Well done to all the boys for the first half of the season. It’s been lovely seeing them play, looking to improve themselves and most importantly, having fun! Have a great Xmas and see you in the New Year!!
