Totton and Eling vs M&T Jaguars – 7th May 2023
So the curtain came down on an incredible first season for the Michelmersh and Timsbury Jaguars.
This was one last game for the boys to perform to earn themselves legendary status at this historic club.
A tough Totton and Eling side were in their way and they were really up for this game, wanting to end our run.
The first half was very tight and the opposition probably had the better of it. We looked nervous and we weren’t winning our duals. Both Ollie and Eddie stood out for us in a battle of a first half.
The second half was just as tight, but we showed lots more desire and started winning our first balls. It was a game of very few chances and would take something special to break the deadlock.
With time running out, we got a free kick within Thomas range. The boy’s on fire at the moment, so Glyn ‘happily’ handed over the ball. Thomas struck it well, and he was heading into the top of the net when the Totton keeper pulled off an amazing save to touch it onto the bar. Was it going to be just one of those days?
No, Mally followed the ball in and nodded it into an unguarded net to send the fans, coaches and players into raptures. It was truly a magic moment for now we surely would hold onto our record.
It didn’t end there as one minute later, Harry put pressure on the back line, forcing an error. He closed them down and poked the ball into the net. This guaranteed us our win, and also sent Chris G into ecstasy on the touchline and cause him to celebrate like uncle Bryn.
The final whistle came with a sense of relief but also celebration. It was by no means our greatest performance, but we do have this great habit of pulling it out of the bag just when it is needed.
Full time Totton and Eling 0 – 2 Michelmersh and Timsbury
Votes for player of the day, on the whole, was shared between Ollie and Eddie.
Eddie was solid as ever and lead by example, by meeting first balls and winning his duals thus driving on his teammates to do the same.
Ollie has been a different player in recent weeks he was calm and composed on the ball and showed neat footwork to get himself away from tight situations. Looking a little bit of class in midfield.
Well played Ollie who took the honour by a fraction. The season has ended too soon for him as he was getting better and better every week. We are extremely happy to hear that Ollie will be signing on for his next season and will play in between his karting Academy races. He will still be turning out for the black and amber wizards.
What a Season!
So what an unbelievable season! I genuinely can’t express how happy I am with the squad we have. The results that we have had are just the cherry on top of the cake. What pleases me most is how close this bunch of friends have become over this season and how hard they work for each other to achieve their goals. Every single player in the squad has played their part, and we carry no passengers. It’s no coincidence that this camaraderie and positivity has brought about that cherry of the good results.
Together, they have all improved over the season and once on the pitch, this band of Brothers have been INVINCIBLE!!!
