Joint Training for the Bobcats – 20th May ’23

A massive pat on the back to the M&T Bobcats today. Our first joint training session and our first successful morning. I hope they all enjoyed it as much as I did!

It was a superb team performance all over the pitch, with great attitudes and smiles all around, making it impossible to choose a Bobcat of the week (individual player summaries below).

Harry

Started in goal and conquered his pre match nerves, making some great saves, while distributing the ball productively to his team mates. On the pitch Harry had great energy, making it really difficult for the opposition to settle and winning the ball back for his team to get us going forward again. Great job Harry

Samuel

Samuel was our rock at the back today, keeping our shape, taking up great positions and was strong in the tackle to break up dangerous Marchwood attacks. He also showed his attacking prowess, with his best Usain Bolt impression up the wing, creating a number of good opportunities in front of goal. Great job Samuel

Seb

Seb should be really proud of his contributions today. He enjoyed two stints in goal and a very productive period on the pitch. He clearly took in our pre-game discussion, controlling the ball, keeping us in possession and finding his team mates with some great forward passes. Another player that wasn’t shy in taking the opportunity to drive us forward with his ever improving dribbling skills. Great job Seb

Ben

Ben was a driving force all over the pitch. He took up some great positions, enabling him to break up play, demonstrated close control and a turn of pace to go past players with ease and made great decisions in the final third, bringing team mates into play and scoring two fantastic goals. Great job Ben

Jenson

Very proud of my boy today. Jenson worked very hard for his team, getting up and down the pitch to break up counter attacks and carry his team forward, often dribbling past two or three players. He scored two early goals, finding the bottom corner past a very good opposition goal keeper. Great job Jenson

Blake

A debut to remember for Blake – showing both his fierce defensive attributes, whilst providing one of most potent attacking threats going forward. He got himself close to the opposition players, showed great strength and a turn of pace to break through the defence and slot two excellent finishes past the oncoming opposition goal keeper. Great job Blake

Amara

Another fantastic debut, with a very assured first performance. Played with a constant smile on her face, put In some great tackles and created a couple of good opportunities on goal for herself. All without knowing anyone else on the team #JoinTheBobcatsPlease. Great job Amara

Bradley

Bradley put in another tireless performance, dragging opposition players around the pitch, making space for his team mates. He intervened at key moments, making tackles to break down counter attacks and took time to turn and try to find a team mate in possession. Great job Bradley

A final thanks to all the parents for the support and encouragement! Jacob for doing a fantastic job as referee and my wife Fern for unknowingly volunteering to wash the kit .
