Millbrook U12s vs M&T Jaguars – 30th April ’23

The fans had plenty of entertainment today at the Oasis!

No Sunsheyine though as the rain fell as the Jaguars took on Millbrook.

Some might say that we are on a roll with it being 21 games unbeaten but we were taking nothing for granted as we looked for afternoon celebrations instead of the usual morning glory.

We started really well though and tried to keep the ball moving fast on the tight pitch. That was the master plan for the smaller pitch. We were causing problems but Millbrook stood up to the test.

It looked like we would come in at half-time all square but Thomas unleashed another supersonic shot into the top corner from miles out. 2 special goals in 2 games for him.

Whatever the opposition manager said to his team at half time worked as Millbrook came out and moved up a couple of gears.

An inswinging corner was clawed out by Rowan but the ball unfortunately hit Harrison on the back and went into our own net to level the game. Harrison just seemed to acquiesce the bad luck and moved on fast.

We now definitely maybe had a game in our hands!

We pushed hard but didn’t panic. We created several chances but it felt like it just might not be our day.

Relief though as a lovely ball from Lloyd put Harry in and he finished beautifully. It’ll be the talk tonight in the twins household about who scored the best goal today!

From then on it was about holding what we had and little by little seeing the game out.

A late free kick for Millbrook gave a chance of an equaliser but with the players arm in arm and screaming “stand by me” our Wonderwall stood brave and cleared the danger.

The final whistle blew giving us a result which could still see a champagne Supernova celebration as the title chase is still on to the last week of the season.

Our last defeat seems half the world away now as we just keep grinding out results.

Nearly every player received a vote for player of the day today and it was a for way tie for the honour.

Mally looked classy in midfield and created many chances.

Eddie never looked troubled at the back and put a couple of lovely long balls in.

Lloyd ran the opposition ragged and on many occasions got us up the pitch fast.

Thomas is electric right now and is scoring screamer after screamer.

Well done boys. They are talking about your form all around the world. One last push to end an incredible season.
