U7s Bobcats Match Report – 9 December 2023

A showcase of talent from Romsey and the surrounding villages today, with the Bobcats playing against a number of familiar faces for Romsey Tigers. The game was a spectacle of what football is all about – FUN. The two sides put together a collection of 16 fantastic goals, coupled with some great celebrations (Cohans twerk my pick of the bunch – I wonder if Andy or Rebecca taught him that ) and most importantly a lot of smiley faces .

Our match report could have started with a number of players today, but Bradley just edged it. This boy just can’t stop scoring – 4 goals today , including an absolute rocket of a free kick slamming in off the underside of the bar. He went in goal twice for his team, covering for his sick teammates, made a number of saves (including one real standout stop from a powerful shot heading for the bottom corner). And as we have come to expect from Bradley, he worked hard, battled and embraced the game with a smile and a sprinkling of positivity throughout. Absolutely brilliant Bradley

Cohan was another who stood out today and another who found the net 4 times , with a couple of really accomplished long range strikes past a very good opposition keeper . We saw his usual display of skills and close control, dragging his team up the pitch and drawing several opposition players towards him, to create space for others. He has been waiting to show us his Beyoncé impression and didn’t miss the opportunity after a tremendous weaving run and powerful finish past the oncoming keeper. Cohan was another who covered for his teammates in goal today and has earned himself the ‘cat’ nickname after a very accomplished display. absolutely brilliant Cohan

Obie really impressed me today, with his combative play , closing down the opposition with real purpose and recovering the ball in really important areas. His ball control was superb today, with a couple of assured dribbles up the pitch and a deft touch in the middle of the park under pressure from opponents (see the video ). His attitude was spot on as always and as I have found myself saying most weeks, he really did deserve a goal today. Absolutely brilliant Obie

Reggie aka Yaya, was everywhere again today. It’s honestly like having an extra player on the pitch. A number of powerful, purposeful runs, led to not only goals for others, but another two for Reg’s rapidly growing tally . The opposition were very good on the counter attack today, but Reggie really stifled there play and made a number of really important last ditch challenges. A pleasure to watch him play as always. Absolutely brilliant Reggie

Mr consistent Samuel was incredible in every department today. Ball winning , build up play , dribbling energy passing . My fingers are crossed that he gets his well deserved goal in the next few weeks. This boy is going to be some player! And has the most heart warming attitude to boot . Absolutely brilliant Samuel

Teddy was our rock in the middle today, chasing down opposition players and loose balls with an unrivalled determination. We saw his much improved passing and dribbling skills in action, in what marks another step forward in his rapid development as a player. His attitude and listening skills were spot on and he brought the fun today, which is really important for our team dynamic. Another who is hungry for a goal . Absolutely brilliant Teddy .

I know I have said it many times before, but I am absolutely spoilt working with such an amazing bunch of Bobcats and parents (+grandparents ). The culture that has naturally developed and the memories we are building together are all very special. Thanks everyone
