U8 Cougars Match Report – 19 November 2023

Really proud of how the team played today – I think our best performance of the season against a well matched opposition.

Cougars started strongly with lovely link-up play between Barney, Daniel, Brody, Ben and even Louie in goal. Brody opened the scoring with a neat finish following good work from Daniel.

The good work continued in the next quarter between Rafi, Daniel, Ryan and Caleb with Caleb scoring two lovely goals. The first came from a great clearance from an opposition corner by Ryan, the ball broke to Caleb who beat his man and finished into the corner. Next, Rafi blocked well in midfield, and Caleb struck from distance.

The teams were tightly matched and the cougars were strong and battled all over the pitch. The final goal of the game came following good battling by Ryan, Louie manoeuvred onto his favoured right foot and struck hard into the top of the net.

But the real highlight of the game was the team play. We’ve been working on passing and it showed today – some great examples of link-up play, players getting their heads up and looking to play in team-mates.
