U8 Cougars Match Report – 10th Sept 2023

Great performance from the cougars in their second game of the season with the boys adjusting well to a grass pitch. A strong game all round with great effort shown from all the boys.

Louie

Started off in goal with a solid performance. Moving to an attacking position saw Louie find a great pass to Brody for Brody’s third before firing in himself, low and hard into the far corner. Great distribution when in a defensive position.

Daniel

Good start in defence putting in key blocks. A great display in goal with assured handling. Finished off in attack where he worked his socks off for the team, tracking back to help team-mates. A great debut.

Caleb

Another really assured performance in his first game. Some really good passing to team-mates culminating in a goal assist when Caleb broke down the left during a lovely team move, crossing for Ryan to finish. Also stuck to the job well when played in a defensive position.

Ben

Worked tirelessly throughout, always trying to get on the ball and never shyed of tackling the opposition. Was unlucky not to score, getting himself in some great positions and only denied a goal by some last ditch defending.

Brody

Started the game really strongly, immediately having an impact as centre forward. His first goal came when he broke up the right, with an assured finish. The second came shortly after when the ball broke to him and he fired into the roof of the net. Brody continued to show his skills and trouble the opposition defence and his third came shortly after when, picked out by Louis, he again calmly finished. A late forth capped a superb game.

Rafi

Worked hard on the right of midfield, always tracking up and back in support of team-mates. Was a real presence in the game and a constant thorn in the side of the opposition. Also pulled off some good stops when called upon in goal.

Ryan

Initially played in defence and really excelled, showing good positioning and discipline, putting in some key blocks. When played up-front, bagged himself another goal by finishing neatly from Caleb’s left-wing cross.

It’s still early days for the Cougars as a team but another great performance, most impressive of all was the level of effort put in by all. Great stuff Cougars!
