U13s Tyro Challenge Shield – Salisbury vs M&T Jaguars – 1st Oct 2023

Our first cup game for years and we were definitely up for getting a good run going.

We were ‘away’ (about 500metres away) to Salisbury at Hunts farm.

A sensational performance saw us through to the next round. A performance that showed so much maturity, discipline and patience.

Every single squad player was immense today which produced a machine like effort.

Wingers sat in and protected their full backs who in turn could protect their centre backs.

The front 2 (Mally, Harrison, Harry and AJ) worked their socks off as the frontline defence which allowed the machine to work.

Glyn and Thomas were incredible in the centre and came out on top of a great battle against some talented players.

Rowan kept us in the game with some great early saves and showed that his work on PMA is working.

The early set back didn’t rock us and we kept to our game plan. We continued to remain patient and put faith in the tactics.

Full Time – Salisbury 2 – 4 Jaguars.

Player of the Day

Really tough to pick player of the day today for the fans as every single player could have taken it.

Thomas got a couple of votes as he won countless tackles in midfield.

Joint second place was Glyn, Rowan and Lloyd.

Glyn formed a formidable partnership with Thomas in the middle and stopped a talented midfield from passing through us. When he won it, he used it well and played simple release passes out.

Rowan kept us in the game as we could easily have been 3.0 down. Lots more confidence today from him which spreads across his team.

Lloyd is a Messi! The boy just doesn’t stop running up and down the whole pitch. So many tackles won to help Aidan out and then in seconds he is hitting the byline with mazy dribbles.

Todays player of the day was AJ. The hat trick only tells half the story as his pacey running and trickery panicked the defence so much that it gave the rest of our team a chance to get up the pitch and release pressure. And wow, what a goal the first goal is.

One of the best performances we have ever had to get us into the next round. Super proud.
