Our First Outing As Michelmersh and Timsbury at a Mini Tournament – 22nd May 2022

What a beautiful day for the first outing for the newly formed Michelmersh and Timsbury Jaguars. Despite wearing a thrown together kit, the boys looked good in the black and amber.

We started our first game in confident style after a top performance midweek. We are really starting to compete physically now and win those first balls. It didn’t take long for our pressure to give benefits as a ball over the top from Ollie was finished well by Harry. Harry was causing all sorts of problems and was clearly up for this game.

Harry got a second after good work from Harrison winning the ball high up the pitch then driving into the area. He then very unselfishly squared the ball to Harry to tap in as the keeper came out.

Glyn also got himself 2 goals from 2 assists from Harrison.

Second game and we were up against an opponent that looked very impressive in their first game. We didn’t back down and burst out of the blocks. 2 goals from Jake and 1 from Alex gave us a good win. We looked really solid at the back against skilful quick players.

We started to tire a little and with some people trying different positions, we almost gave the game away. With some saves from Sammy we managed to hold on.

With the title in the bag, the pressure was off for the last game. Tiredness had crept in and we found it hard to play football as good as the other games. Nonetheless we proved that we could play a different type of game and scrapped a nil – nil result thanks to some top defending and good saves from spider Sam.

Sammy- Some top class saves at crucial times. Sign of a good keeper when they are only needed a few times but deliver when that time comes.

Theo – The rock was out today! He was up against some good fast players but they weren’t quite fast enough. Scored a great free kick.

William – Looking more and more like a centre back every game. His confidence is evident as he is winning first balls.

Eddie – Some great organising at the back. His talking hasn’t gone unnoticed as he talks his team mates through the game.

Thomas – Same as William with his confidence flowing. Everything he does now he does with meaning and intent.

Aidan – Still no idea where his energy comes from!! Plays his role perfectly now and needs hardly any coaching. Never ever gives up and sets a captain’s example.

Alex – Took advantage of some space of playing on the wing today. Worked hard for his team and didn’t often get caught out too far forward.

The mighty Munchkin Glyn – Dominant in the middle and tireless all day. Loved scoring a brace against his teachers team

Ollie – Together with, Glyn dominated the middle. I think many teams will underestimate our 2 wee men!!

Harrison – Definitely heading the right way with his physical effort. Won the ball and created a goal from using strength and determination. He also very happy and proud to have scored with his privates.

Jake – One great goal and some nice touches and hold up play. Hopefully did his dad proud wearing his old shirt.

Harry – Unbelievable in the first game. Hounded the opponents from the front and won so many balls. Unlucky not to get more goals and assists today.

Really hard to pick a player of the day and the votes showed a good spread and joint winners. Harrison, Sammy, Glyn, Theo and Harry all tied. A great way to start as M&T!! Unbeaten and tournament winners. Well done boys! A fantastic start
