Match Report U8 Cougars – Sept 24th 2023

Great performance today from the cougars – overall some lovely team play, good discipline sticking to positions, keeping shape well and some excellent passing moves.

Barney scored 2 goals and contributed to some lovely team moves with excellent simple passing. Brody showed his skills again, including an excellent goal when, found by Rafi, he had the cool to pull the ball back before finishing smartly. Ryan got in on the scoring with a lovely lobbed ball and had a really good all-round game, showing real improvement in his positional play. Louie bagged 2 goals, stealing in round the keeper for his first followed by a trade-mark long range finish. Also assisted Ryan for his goal and played a key part in 2 others.

Caleb got his first goals for the Cougars, the first a clever shot on the turn which went in off the post, followed by a long-range finish and completed his hat-trick late on. Rafi played his part in some great passing moves including finishing off a 4 pass move between Barney, Louie and Rafi – a high quality team goal. Great interplay with Louie for 2 more goals, first from a throw-in, getting the cross in for an unfortunate own goal off the opposition keeper and then again linking with Louie, this time off a corner which Barney poked in at the far post. Daniel and Ben shared the goal keeper duties in what was quite a quiet game in goal with nothing Ben could do about the opposition opener cannoning into the goal off an opposition knee.

All-round great performance as the Cougars continue to develop as a team.
