M&T Jaguars vs Millbrook – 30th Oct ’22

Our first game in the rain and wind. Last season we were a fair weather team and struggled in poor conditions. Thankfully it’s different this year and we have made our home pitch a fortress.

A really positive start from the Jaguars with passing and moving all over the pitch. Lots of 1-2s and we were flowing through the pitch. It was really impressive to watch.

Thomas and Glyn had the midfield sorted and were dominating things. James and Riley were finding good space on the wings. Lloyd and Harry were terrorising the defence with their pace and close dribbling skills.

We stayed patient and a good through ball from lloyd set Harry clear. He finished like a top class striker into the far corner. It was exactly what we deserved.

Glyn came close from a free kick which produced a fine save from the Millbrook keeper.

William and Theo worked well together at the back. William looked a lot stronger and won his duel nearly every time.

Harrison was giving keeper a go for the first time in a long time and looked just as good as 2 years ago.

Ollie, Eddie and Aidan came on halfway through the half and added to the tempo. We kept pushing and playing nice stuff.

In the space of 30 seconds, our mighty munchkins Ollie and Glyn, were floored and injured. Lisa sprinted in to the pitch, straight past her own son and over to Glyn 😆

Both players had to come off but as they were receiving treatment/puking up, James scored a lovely calm finish to put us 2.0 up.

It was all about keeping things solid in the second half and keeping a clean sheet. Eddie and William never really looked bothered at the back even playing 2 v 2.

Aidan battled hard on the wing in a good physical contest. He was unlucky not to score as he found himself in a couple of good positions and struck the ball well.

We were close to going 3 up when a superb through ball from Harrison set Harry through 1 on 1. The keeper made a great save and was there to also block the follow up.

Ollie came back on to add some more protection to the defence as we went to 3 at the back. Aidan went up front to do what he does best and put pressure on.

Lloyd supported Aidan well while everyone else held their shape to keep that clean sheet.

We showed maturity and good game management to see the game out for the 2.0 win.

This was one of our best performances ever. Fantastic football in the first half and a savvy controlled second half.

Superb performances from everyone today. Every player was an 8 or 9 out of 10 and it showed in the spread of votes for player of the day.

Theo, Glyn, Thomas and James all got votes. In joint second place was Aidan, Eddie and Lloyd.

The winner today was William.

A real visible improvement this week with his assertiveness on the game. He won 99% of his challenges, met the ball on the volley with conviction and showed pace when needed. Brilliant performance William!

I will be buzzing all week after that team performance. Well done everybody!
