M&T Jaguars vs Whiteley – 16th Oct ’22

It was a trip down the M27 for the Jaguars today, down to play Whiteley.
A bumper crowd today and the trip was made worth it by a super performance from the boys.

A cracking first 10 minutes saw us create quite a few chances but we weren’t quite clinical enough. Mally was looking really lively up front and seemed first to everything.

We opened the scoring when James finished well from a clever lloyd assist. The 2 youngsters combining well.

Theo was so really solid at the back and is showing that his distribution has improved a lot this season as he was playing thoughtful passes out.

Thomas was bossing the middle with Glyn. Definitely Thomas’ best game on pitch so far. He won countless interceptions and tackles, and when in possession he played calm, composed passes, often switching the play.

Harrison came close with a couple of chances and had 1 ruled out for offside.

I was worried that we would be made to pay as whiteley got an equaliser from another mistake by us.

We came in at the break in front though as Harry tapped in from a rebound off the keeper from a James shot. Followed in like all good strikers do.

Half Time Whiteley 1 – 2 Jaguars

We started the second half like a steam train and put the game out of doubt nice and early. Mally was creating all sorts and Riley was looking good in the cdm role. William was winning tackles and headers.

A lovely header from James put us 3.1 up from a viscous corner by Glyn. It was so quick that the camera lady missed it for the video.

3 became 4 soon after when lloyd put away a through ball from mally. The ball squirmed under the whiteley keeper who really didn’t deserve it as he made some great saves today.

James very nearly completed a perfect hat trick when his shot smashed against the cross bar just before being taken off.

Harry got our final goal when he raced through from a Harrison headed flick on. He calmly finished.

Another bit of sloppy play from us when we fell asleep from a drop ball, cost us yet another goal in the last 10 minutes. And if not for a couple of good saves from Thomas we could have made things a lot less comfortable for us at the end.

A good win and the 3 points we needed to stay top.

Over 20 votes for potd today as we had so many spectators. Mally, Riley, Glyn and Lloyd all got votes.

Thomas – A really composed game on pitch. Won so many first balls and then passed it well. Some top saves in goal too.

1st place

James – Came close a perfect left, right, head hat trick but on top of that created lots of chances for others and won so many tackles on that right wing.
