Under 8s Panthers Match Report – 3rd Sept 2023

A first ever game for this awesome bunch of players. Having been a recently formed team it was always going to be a challenge and a great learning exercise with the main emphasis on fun.

The players gave their all right until the end and did everyone proud!

Leo D

Showed some fantastic versatility today by playing in goal 1st half and striker second half.

Made some top saves including one right on the line which looked a certain goal right until the last second. Leo also took the honour of scoring this teams first ever goal with a clinical close range finish.

Ted

Battled so well all game and made many crucial tackles. Ran his socks off in the heat. After each quarter he contributed really well to the team talks and kept encouraging his team mates. Particularly pleasing to see Ted do exactly what we worked on in training from corners and goal kicks.

Gracie

Was really nervous when she arrived but within a few minutes of the game starting she was relaxed and eager to get on the pitch. She took up some really good positions but we just couldn’t manage to find her with passes today but this will happen with practice. There is a really good player in there as her confidence grows. Really well played Gracie!!

Cohen

Another versatile performance with Cohen giving it a go striker, defence and Goalkeeper.

Some great tackles in defence and plenty of top saves (some even before he went in goal ).

Another player who encouraged positivity with his team mates and plenty of potential there for Omar to work with.

Leo L

What a performance!! Ran around as much as my spaniel chasing a tennis ball

Was a fantastic outlet for his team with his dribbling skills getting us up the pitch to relieve the pressure. Very excited to see Leo develop as he has plenty of talent to work with.

Charlie.

Very quickly became a rock at the back. Fearlessly winning tackles to save goals. Held his position as defender really well and timed his interceptions brilliantly. We have the making of a new Bobby Moore.

With Omar unavailable, it was mine and Chris’ pleasure to take this game with a wonderful set of kids. The way they stayed positive all the way through and left with smiles on their faces will be what we take away from today.

Omar has sooooo much potential in this team and I have no doubt that we will get the best out of them. I am excited to see them develop into a top team.
