We finally had a match! M&T Jaguars vs Hythe and Dibden Vipers

At last we got a game!!

Harrison had to remind me of the rules of the game on the way to the match.

We welcomed Hythe and Dibden to fortress Timsbury as we looked to carry on with the form we had in October and November.

Understandably we weren’t quite at our best but there were spells when we played some great football.

We seemed to struggle with the passing and maybe it was adjusting to the pitch conditions after playing so long on the astroturf.

We went a goal behind when we got caught out on the break.

I had a feeling this might happen so had already prepared the boys to keep calm and respond accordingly. They did this really well. They went up a couple of gears.

Within 15 minutes we were 4.1 up.

Aidan came on and with his first touch he forced the keeper to make a save which Harrison followed in well to earn a tap in.

Glyn earned himself a penalty which he converted well.

The third goal was a thing of beauty. Harrison controlled the ball well on the edge of the area and shielded it well. He laid it back for Mally to unleash a rocket into the top corner.

The fourth was a huge moment for Thomas as he scored his first proper goal for the club.

In between all our attacking play, Rowan kept Hythe out with some fantastic saves.

Half time – Jaguars 4 – 1 Vipers

With a good squad size now, we have the chance to have a starter team and a finisher team. The lads coming on at half time had the job of seeing us through.

The second half was very even and Hythe got back into the game when we seemed to pause at the back and allow a goal. After that error we looked very solid though.

Ollie screened the 2 at the back well and put in a few critical headers.

Lloyd and Harry showed loads of energy up front to take the pressure off.

We could have scored more if it hadn’t been for their keeper making some phenomenal saves. One thwarting what looked like a certain goal from James.

In the end we managed to see the game out and gain 3 more points in this fantastic season.

Runner up was Rowan who looked very solid. Great kicking, good handling, positive communication and some great saves.

Today’s winner was Glyn. He was outstanding, particularly in the first half when the opposition couldn’t cope with him.

His tenacity and energy in the middle allows us to play a more attacking formation with only 2 at the back. A dominant display.
